rough route I will be taking on my proposed

walk from John O’Groats to Lands End

My intention is to start from John O’Groats in mid April and pass through or near the following towns.   Depart JohnO’Groats A99 – Wick – Latherton, then join A9 – Dunbeath – Helmsdale – Brora – Golspie –Tain- Alness.   Join A862 – Dingwall –Beauly then A833 to Milton – A831 – Drumnadrochit.   Take A82 along Loch Ness to Fort Augustus, go across country on Corrieyairack Pass to Laggan then A889 and rejoin A9.   After 12 miles take minor roads until eventually join A822 – Crieff – Braco.   Take B8033 – Dunblane.   From Dunblane taking minor roads passing near Stirling, Cumbernauld, Airdrie, Motherwell and Hamilton before joining B7078 at Larkhall and B7076 – Carlisle via Lockerbie and Gretna Green.   From Carlisle follow Route of A6 but use minor roads where possible via Penrith, Kendal, Carnforth, Lancaster, Preston.   Then A582 and B5253 to Leyland – Eccleston.   B5250 to Wigan, A49 Ashton-in-Makerfield – Warrington – Whitchurch – Shrewsbury.   A458 Bridgenorth, B4363 – Kinlet and B4194 Bewdley – Stourport.   B4196 Worcester, A38 Tewkesbury – Cheltenham/Gloucester.   A46 Stroud – Nailsworth – Tetbury.   Minor roads to Bath, A367 Radstock – Shepton M allet.   South on A37 Take B3153 – Somerton then minor roads to Honiton, old A30 to Exeter.   B3212 – Moretonhampstead – Two Bridges – B3357 – Tavistock.   A390 Liskeard – St. Austell – Truro, minor roads to Penzance A30 to Lands End.  Yippee!!!!!!!!!  good luck Doug
